Michael started drawing at the age of 7 when it was natural for him. At 12 years he was asked to do a drawing demonstration by himself in a shopping center on a Saturday morning and drew a big crowd. Michael had a fond interest in Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci and Van Gogh at an early age and then after found, in his own country at The Golden Summers exhibition, the highest respect for the Australian impressionist painters Tom Roberts, Frederick McCubbin and Arthur Steeton to name a few.

Michael obtained a Diploma in Commercial Art in 1988 after completing his studies. He then ran his own business as a commercial artist in Margaret River W.A. for a few years. After moving to Queensland he set his sights just on painting.

Michael's paintings are represented in private collections around Australia. His works have been exhibited in the Central Queensland Art Galleries. Rockhampton Art Gallery, Milton House Gallery Mackay and Mill Gallery Yeppoon. Michael has twice appeared in the top ten finalists in the Australian Artist Magazines Art Prize Challenge Series in 2004 and 2007. He won First Prize in the Open for the Artists and Art 2005 at the Mackay art competition.

Michael paints in pastels and oils. He paints realistic and impressionism with a few in a Surrealism style.
